The work of H.P. Lovecraft and his most famous character Cthulhu is a firm favorite among the metal scene, but for five residents of Bordeaux it is so much of an inspiration that they formed a band dedicated to fully exploring his works and concepts and thus in 2011 The Great Old Ones was born.

Their debut album Al Azif surfaced in 2012 and is a mesmerisingly stunning concoction of Neurosis inspired post-metal mixed with sweeping atmospheric black metal, which they backed up with a brilliant live performance including a ridiculously crushing early morning 10:30am set at Hellfest the same year!

Seemingly not ones to rush themselves or even tour that extensively it has been with much anticipation waiting for something new and finally we have been rewarded with album number two Tekeli​-​li.
